Sony has decided to lower the price of the monthly subscription of PlayStation Now to 9.99 euros per month and add new exclusives
One month away from the launch of Google Stadia, the new platform dedicated to gaming, and the video game streaming market begins to reorganize itself. The first to move is Sony, which has officially lowered the prices of PlayStation Now, the online gaming service that offers over 700 titles to play, from 14.99 euros to 9.99 euros per month.
Sony's strategy is very clear: make life complicated for Google Stadia. Google is betting a lot on this new platform and is doing things in a big way, installing a network of super performing servers. Sony responds with the most well-stocked library available for the moment for a video game streaming service and with titles that change from month to month, including those triple A, or high budget (God of War, Uncharted 4, for example). The new price of 9.99 euros is active since October 1. PlayStation Now is available on PS4 and Windows computers.
What is PlayStation Now
Launched in 2014, PlayStation Now only arrived in Italy, and other EU countries, in March of this year. So far, it hasn't been a big hit, but the demerits are more of the market than the service itself. In fact, the catalog includes over 700 games (including PS3 and PS2 titles that can be played on the PS4) and Sony has recently announced that it will be enriched with highly successful triple-A titles. We're talking about GTA V, Uncharted 4, God of War and Infamous Second Son. The titles will be available for a limited time for both streaming and download.
The video games, however, will not be available forever, but only for a limited time (about three months). Sony will decide in the future (depending on the number of downloads and the number of people who have played the individual video games) whether to keep them in the catalog forever.
PlayStation Now: how it works
With a PlayStation Now subscription, you have the ability to stream games using your PS4 or a Windows PC. The user can access all the titles on the platform, without any type of limitation, if not that of the memory of your device or the bandwidth of your Internet connection.
The streaming games are all available at a maximum resolution of 720p, while the recommended bandwidth to be able to access the service without problems and limitations is 5Mbs.
