Pocophone X2: features and price of the low-cost smartphone

Pocophone has unveiled the Poco X2, a new low-cost mid-range smartphone. On board the Snapdragon 730G with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage

Pocophone is back, and it did it in style. As announced in previous weeks, the Chinese brand unveiled the new Poco X2 on the morning of February 4. In recent weeks there has been a lot of talk about this new device: Pocophone is betting heavily on it to return to be a protagonist in the world of low-cost smartphones.

Many thought it was the heir to the Pocophone F1, the low-cost top-of-the-line smartphone released in 2018. In reality, the Poco X2 is a smartphone dedicated to a different bracket: it is a mid-range that focuses everything on value for money. The most attentive will have noticed that in reality the Poco X2 is nothing more than the twin copy of the Redmi K30, a device launched two months ago in China and produced by another company that always belongs to Xiaomi. From design to features, the Poco X2 is virtually identical to the Redmi device: to change is only the logo placed on the back of the smartphone.

Poco X2, the data sheet

Despite being identical to the Redmi K30, the characteristics of the Poco X2 remain very interesting. On board we find a Snapdragon 730G processor, perfect for those who like to play with the smartphone, supported by 6-8GB of RAM and 64/128/256GB of internal memory (in total there are three versions available). The memory is expandable via a microSD. The screen has a 6.67-inch diagonal with a FullHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate.

Very interesting is the photo compartment, especially for the target market range. On the back we find a 64 Megapixel main sensor, supported by an 8 Megapixel wide-angle lens and two 2 Megapixel sensors, one dedicated to macro shots, the other to depth of field. The front camera is also dual: 20 Megapixel main sensor, 2 Megapixel secondary for selfies. The Poco X2 does not have a notch, but a hole in the side on the right where the two cameras are inserted.

The battery is 4500mAh with support for fast wireless charging at 27W. On board we find Android 10 customized with MIUI 11 and the Poco launcher.

Price Poco X2

The Poco X2 for the moment has been launched only in India and is likely to arrive in Italy under another name. It could be one of the devices in the new Mi 10 family.

Prices in India are very interesting: the 6GB-64GB version costs just over 200 euros, while for the 6GB-128GB model the price rises to about 215 euros. For the top version with 8GB-256GB you have to shell out about 250 euros. If the Poco X2 will be launched in Italy, we have to take into account taxes and other price increases: the price could touch 300 euros.
