The word encryption is now in common use. All our data circulates freely on the web and it seems normal to us to obfuscate it. Yet encryption is not a modern concept, since time immemorial man has used it to hide his messages. So let's see how to use it on iPhone and Android.
Why use encryption on our smartphones? A smartphone today is the largest database on a person. There are photos, banking details and sometimes even information about one's health. Preventing this sensitive data from being read and used by third parties should be one of our first concerns. To do so, turning to encryption may be one of the best methods possible. Come impostare la crittografia su iOS
Apple ha introdotto la crittografia nel 2014 con i primi dispositivi dotati di iOS 8. Per abilitarla basta un codice di sicurezza o in maniera ancora più innovativa le nostre impronte digitali. Per incominciare a usare la crittografia sui dispositivi Apple andiamo su Impostazioni, selezioniamo Tocco ID e codice di accesso (negli smartphone meno recenti leggeremo solo codice d’accesso) e attiviamolo. Se non usiamo le impronte digitali ricordiamoci di scegliere una password difficile da decifrare e abbastanza lunga.

Come impostare la crittografia su Android
I passi da compiere per impostare la crittografia su Android variano da marca a marca di smartphone. Google nei suoi dispositivi la imposta di default. Sugli ultimi Galaxy di Samsung invece il processo è simile a iPhone. Andiamo su Impostazioni, poi Sicurezza, selezioniamo Blocco Schermo e impostiamo un Codice di sicurezza. Su Galaxy S6 e Moto X Pure andiamo su Impostazioni, Sicurezza e clicchiamo su Crittografia telefono. Ricordiamoci di avere l’alimentatore a portata di mano perché il processo può richiedere molto tempo. Possiamo anche crittografare la scheda SD. Some reasons not to use encryption on Android
Choosing to encrypt your phone on Android can be a right choice, but also a wrong one. The reason is the difference between the various smartphones that use Google's operating system. In addition, depending on which smartphone we use, more or less recent, encryption could affect its performance. That's why on Android encryption is recommended, but only on recent high-end devices. For example: Galaxy S6, LG G4, HTC One M9, and their newer models, Galaxy S7, LG G5 and so on.
