Redmi 8 official: the smartphone for those who want to spend little

The Redmi 8 is a lowcost smartphone with on board the Snapdragon 439, 3-4GB of RAM and 32-64GB of internal memory. It will also arrive in Italy

While the new Redmi Note 8 Pro has been available in Italy for a few days, the Chinese company does not seem to want to stop its rise in the world of low-cost smartphones and launches the Redmi 8, a very cheap device dedicated to those who do not want to spend a large amount of money.

The official presentation of the Redmi 8 has confirmed all the rumors and rumors about the specifications and technical features of recent weeks. The smartphone is an entry-level with very limited features, but it manages to support any type of application, even in multitasking. The Redmi 8 is based on a Snapdragon 439 hardware platform with supporting 3GB or 4GB of RAM and 32 or 64GB of RAM. Also limited is the photo compartment, featuring a dual camera with a 12-megapixel main sensor. The device for the moment has been presented and launched only in India, for the release in Europe we have to wait a few more weeks.

Redmi 8: features

The new Redmi 8 has a 6.22-inch display with HD + resolution, Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and drop notch at the top of the screen within which is embedded the 8 MegaPixel front camera that supports facial recognition for unlocking. Under the shell beats a Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 SoC processor that replaces the chipsetĀ  Snapdragon 632 supplied to the Redmi 7. A downgrade "due", it seems, to keep the selling price of the device low. Two RAM sizes, 3GB and 4GB, and two different internal storage capacities: 32GB and 64GB expandable up to 512GB with a microSD card.

The battery has a capacity of 5,000 mAh and is equipped with 18W fast charging. The photographic compartment is composed, in addition to the already mentioned 8 MegaPixel front camera, the main 12 MegaPixel sensor and a second 2 MegaPixel camera dedicated exclusively to depth. Connectivity is provided by the WiFi 802.11b/g/n modules, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS and LTE system, obviously the phone is a dual SIM. Operating system Android 9 Pie with MIUI 10 interface. Finally, complete the list of hardware of the new Redmi 8 the 3.5mm audio jack, FM radio, fingerprint scanner and USB Type-C port.

Redmi 8: availability and prices

For now, the new Redmi 8 is only available in India, but as happened with its predecessor, the Redmi 7, it's only a matter of time and soon it can be purchased in Italy too. At launch, scheduled for next October 12, three colors will be available: Sapphire Blue, Ruby Red and Onxy Black. At the exchange rate it takes about 103 euros for the model with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage and about 115 euros for the higher version equipped with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.
