Redmi will make an innovative top of the range: goodbye low cost

Redmi looks with interest at the top of the range market, and according to rumors would have in development two interesting smartphones and innovative technologies

In the future of Redmi there would be not only low-priced smartphones, the so-called low cost. The company that in 2019 became independent from Xiaomi with the aim of maximizing value for money in the low and mid-range of the Android smartphone market would be ready, according to rumors, to "leap forward".

The latest rumors coming from China tell that Redmi would be ready to enter the market of innovative products with high-end technical specifications, so far the prerogative of Xiaomi and in part also of Poco, another company that gravitates around the multifaceted Chinese manufacturer that so far in terms of prices and technical features has represented the middle ground between Redmi and Xiaomi itself. In addition to the Redmi K50s that aren't expected to debut until January 2022 if they really, as rumored, will rely on Qualcomm's next top-of-the-line chip, two other high-end products are reportedly being worked on at Redmi HQ that would arrive in the second half of 2022.

Redmi ready to invest in in-display cameras

Source person Bald Panda confessed on Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Facebook, that Redmi is working on a smartphone with an 800-series Qualcomm chip, an OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, a 5.000 mAh battery and a telephoto lens capable of 3x optical zoom.

The potential smartphone on which Redmi would be working has the features of a top of the range, starting from the Qualcomm 800 series chip that brings together the most powerful "processors" in the list. And so far, however, nothing new: Redmi already has in its range products such as K50 Pro that use the Qualcomm chip of reference for 2021, the Snapdragon 888, as well as a 120 Hz OLED display, but the feeling is that Redmi is ready to push even further up.

There is no Redmi smartphone to date that can afford the "luxury" of counting among the cameras a telephoto lens with 3x zoom, equipment usually reserved for the top of the range "true": limited to China has proposed in 2020 Redmi K30 Pro Zoom, which, however, seems to have remained an isolated attempt. Nor is there to date a high-performance smartphone with a battery of as much as 5,000 mAh.

The feeling, in short, is that Redmi wants to climb to the next level. And it is confirmed by the remaining part of the speech of Bald Panda on Weibo: "Next year Redmi will focus on fast charging at 100 watts, on the camera under the screen that will also be curved. Ultra-high performance fast charging and the under-screen camera are important technologies that require big investments in research and development, especially the second one.

The other smartphone Redmi would be working on

And we've seen it with the ZTE Axon 20 and the difficulties it had with the under-screen camera, which, months later, the company says it has remedied with the recent ZTE Axon 30. In short, the future of Redmi seems to be quite intriguing, even judging by the second news for 2022 anticipated by Bald Panda: it concerns a smartphone with MediaTek Dimensity 1100 chip, 120 Hz display, 67-watt fast charging, 64-megapixel camera and 5,000 mAh battery.
