The TV series' imagery expands with a prequel dedicated to the Vindicators, designed for younger audiences. Here are the details.
Fans of adult animated series will be familiar with Rick and Morty, a popular, highly irreverent U.S. show. Created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, it is categorized in the comic horror genre and was created as a parody of Back to the Future. The first season, consisting of 11 episodes, is released on Netflix, where you can currently watch four seasons.
The production company Adult Swim is working on other projects. Among them we find a spin-off dedicated to the Vindicators, intergalactic superheroes of the third season, who are tasked with defeating crime and saving the Earth's population. The others are inspired by Your Pretty Face Is Going to Hell, Robot Chicken and Aqua Teen Hunger Force. The most important Project, at this time, is definitely the spin-off. Meanwhile, the public awaits the release of the fifth season, which in the United States will be available from June 20. In Italy there is no official news.
Spin-off Rick and Morty: the plot
Adult Swim wants to expand the universe of Rick and Morty with four new series, including a spin-off. This project should be composed of 8 or 10 episodes to be distributed exclusively in streaming.
The series will tell the adventures of the Vindicators, namely Supernova, Vance Maximus, Alan Rails, Crocubot and Noob Noob, intent on fighting crime. It will be set at the turn of season three: in the episode titled "Vindicators 3: The Return of Worldender," where Rick and Morty first meet the superheroes who travel between galaxies to fight injustice.
Production is handled by Erica Rosbe, Sarah Carbiener, Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland who say they are very pleased with this project. With these funny and irreverent short films Adult Swim wants to offer a new format to the younger audience segment of the parent series. It will also be a show where a lot of experimentation will take place.
The spinoff is expected to be released later this year or in early 2022. In the meantime, the audience is waiting for the fifth season of the parent series.
Rick and Morty: when the fifth season arrives
While the project related to the spin-off takes shape, the audience is waiting for the fifth season of Rick and Morty, which will be released on June 20 in the United States. The chapter will consist of 10 episodes and it is not yet known if it will be divided into two phases, as it has already happened for some of the previous seasons.
