The cast of the teen drama is finally back on set. We'll likely see new episodes in January 2021. Here are the previews
Today is an important day for all Riverdale fans: after about 7 months of stop because of the Coronavirus, the cast is back on the set to work on the episodes of the fifth season. The U.S. TV series, based on the characters of Archie Comics, debuts in Italy in 2017 and is distributed by Netflix.
The announcement of the big return was made by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the showrunner of the program, who posted on his Instagram profile a photograph of the cast almost full. The snapshot was taken on the occasion of the birthday of Lili Reinhart, one of the main actresses of the series. The party was therefore an opportunity to meet after months of separation and also celebrate the start of work, hoping there are no further technical hiccups. In recent weeks, however, there has been no shortage of rumors related to the plot and the release of Riverdale 5 in our country.
Riverdale 5 plot synopsis: what will it be about?
Riverdale is one of the most popular TV series of recent years. The story is based on the famous comic book series published in the United States in 1941. The main character is Archie Andrews, a boy who lives in the small town of Riverdale, seemingly perfect but full of mysteries and dramas.
Each season is characterized by a mystery to be solved, for example in the first season the drama was centered on the murder of Jason. This is connected to secondary events and related to the lives of the characters.
Finally, after months of waiting, the fifth season is about to come to life. But what will it tell? It was the showrunner Aguirre-Sacasa himself to offer some anticipation. We recall that the filming of the fourth season had been interrupted by the pandemic, so it was decided to release the episodes even if the cycle was not concluded. The fourth season is therefore composed of 19 episodes and not 22.
So, the first three episodes of Riverdale 5 were originally part of the fourth season but we will see them in the coming months within the fifth. Archie, Veronica and their classmates will have to solve the mystery of the cassette tapes and finish high school.
Only then will we experience a real time jump of seven years: the protagonists will be adults and their age will be more relevant to that of the performers. They will probably return together in the small town to solve yet another drama that upsets it.

Now let's talk about the big return to the scenes. In the photograph posted on Instagram by Aguirre-Sacasa appear many actors of the TV series: first of all appears Camila Mendes, who in the series plays Veronica and Lili Reinhart who instead is Betty Cooper.
In the image also appear Madelaine Petsch (Ceryl), Cole Sprouse (Jughead Jones) and Drew Ray Tanner who appears for the first time in the second season and plays Drew Ray Tanner.
Surely there will be no shortage of KJ Apa as Archie Andrews and the other secondary characters of the series.
Riverdale 5: when will it be released?
We understand that several original scenes of the fourth season have been moved to the fifth, but to watch the full season we will definitely have to wait at least January 2021 in the U.S. and in the following days in other countries around the world, including Italy.
