After years of experimentation and continuous rumors, Samsung's race towards the presentation of the first foldable smartphone seems to have reached a turning point. According to the latest reports, the South Korean company could start production of the device as early as the end of 2017.
The first prototypes, again referring to these rumors, will start being made in Q3, that is, during the third quarter of 2017, and will be announced to the public in early 2018. The flexible devices are expected to hit the shelves during the first half of next year. At the moment though, as is normal, there is no official confirmation. Non è comunque un segreto che il prossimo banco di prova, in cui i colossi dell’hi-tech si sfideranno, sarà dominato appunto dagli smartphone pieghevoli. E le indiscrezioni dicono che Samsung non è sola. Al lavoro su questa tipologia di device ci sarebbero anche Apple, LG e Nokia.

Samsung comunque avrebbe già mostrato in anteprima il Galaxy X, il suo smartphone pieghevole, a un numero ristretto di persone, durante il Mobile World Congress di Barcellona. Di più al momento non si conosce. Soprattutto per quanto riguarda le caratteristiche tecniche del dispositivo, se non appunto che avrà uno schermo flessibile. In precedenza, altre indiscrezioni avevano anticipato il lancio del device pieghevole durante la prossima estate. In realtà si era parlato, più che di uno smartphone, di un tablet con display da 7 pollici. Rumors a parte, è indubbio che l’azienda asiatica abbia in mente di giocare un ruolo da protagonista su quella che si preannuncia essere la prossima generazione di smartphone.
