Samsung, here’s what the new Gear VR will look like. Expected at MWC 2017

New rumors are popping up about the Gear VR, Samsung's virtual reality visor. After the rumors that the South Korean company could also launch a device for augmented reality, comes some more news about the second-generation viewer.

According to the alleged rumors circulated in recent hours on the network, Samsung may decide to combine the smart glasses a controller. And that's not all. The viewers, in all likelihood, will have a larger shape than those of the previous generation. The reason for this choice is quite simple: the new virtual reality viewers will have to be compatible with the Galaxy S8, the next top of the range that the Asian company will present, from what we learn, not at the World Mobile Congress in Barcelona, but during a separate event to be held, according to rumors, in New York in March.

Gear VR 2, will it be presented at the MWC?

The secrecy of Samsung continues even with regard to the virtual reality viewer. At the moment, in fact, no one can say for sure if the Gear VR 2 will be presented in a few days from the stage of the Spanish kermesse. Will the Gear VR 3 (or Gear AR), the wearable for augmented reality, also be launched at the event? Doubts that the recent rumors do not help to unravel. The latest news that arrive claim, in fact, only that it will have a larger case and a controller to allow users to manage the viewer - while for example playing a video game - without touching the display of the device.

Many expectations

They are many expectations and not only for Samsung. Virtual and augmented reality are, in fact, the future battleground in which hi-tech companies will challenge each other with novelties, as some of the new smartphones demonstrate. Asus, for example, has launched the Asus Zenfone AR, a device compatible with both the AR Tango and VR Daydream platforms. Speaking of which, Google is also set to develop the Daydream 2, a visor that stands to be one of the best wearable devices around.
