Sony has created a T-shirt with built-in air conditioning

Crowdfunding in Japan, it can increase or decrease body temperature on command. It is controlled thanks to the smartphone

In these days, during which temperatures of 40 ° have come close in many parts of Italy, it would have actually come in handy. Unfortunately, however, that at the moment it is only a prototype tested in the laboratory - with excellent results, it must be said - and in the process of crowdfunding in Japan.

It's called Reon Pocket, was designed by Sony technicians and is a T-shirt equipped with an air conditioner and can cool the body temperature of even 13 degrees Celsius. As we said, ideal for these sultry summer evenings. Except that to be able to wear one would have to live in Japan and hope that the crowdfunding campaign launched by Sony is successful. If so, in a few weeks, or months at most, we would have our T-shirt with air conditioner ready to wear.

How Reon Pocket works

The secret of Reon Pocket lies in a small smart device with Bluetooth connectivity and synchronization with your smartphone. About the size of a wallet and weighing only 85 grams, this portable air conditioner fits into a pocket located just behind the neck, between the two shoulder blades. From here, the device can either cool those wearing the shirt (lowering the temperature comporea even 13 degrees Celsius) or heat in case it's too cold outside (in this case will gain 8 degrees more).

Thanks to Bluetooth connectivity, moreover, Reon Pocket can be synchronized with your smartphone and, thanks to the app developed by Sony, also controlled remotely. From the graphic interface, the user can decide whether to increase or decrease their body temperature, indicating the desired temperature. Reon Pocket is battery-powered and, according to Sony, has an autonomy of 24 hours.

How much does it cost and when will Reon Pocket come out

As mentioned, at the moment the shirt with built-in air conditioner is in the crowdfunding phase in Japan, with goal set reached (or almost) well in advance. The cost of the mesh is about 120 euros, while the first examples should be shipped from March 2020. At the moment Sony is not thinking about a worldwide marketing of the product, but in case you are in the Land of the Rising Sun, you can always give it a thought.
