At CES 2018 Sony presents three new smartphones: two mid-range and one entry-level. Coming to Italy between late January and early February
Sony opens its CES 2018 with the presentation of three new smartphones: Sony Xperia XA2, Xperia XA2 Ultra and Xperia L2. These are not three top of the range devices, but devices that will fit into an area in which Sony fails to express the best of itself. We speak of the market of mid-range and entry-level.
The three smartphones had been anticipated by many rumors that had shown all the main technical features. The Xperia XA2 and Xperia XA2 Ultra are mid-range devices with a very interesting photographic compartment (the latter has a dual front camera), while the Xperia L2 is an entry-level device that ensures performance in line with its price range. Sony has anticipated the moves of the main competitors that will present most of their devices during the Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona (February 26 - March 1) and will launch the three smartphones by the beginning of February.
Features Xperia XA2 and Xperia XA2 Ultra
In comparison with the previous model, Sony has decided to make a leap in quality to its mid-range smartphones. For this reason, it has decided to abandon the MediaTek chipsets to mount on the Xperia XA2 and Xperia XA2 Ultra the SoC Snapdragon 630. An important choice and one that allows the series to take a decisive step forward from the past. The two devices have quite different technical characteristics, starting with the size of the screen. Under the point of view of the design few novelties: Sony continues on the path traced in recent years with smartphones with very strong lines.
The Xperia XA2 has a Snapdragon 630 processor supported by 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory (expandable via microSD). The screen is 5.2 inches with 1920×1080 pixel resolution. Very interesting the photographic compartment formed by a 23 Megapixel rear sensor with focal aperture 2.0 and 8 Megapixel front camera. The Xperia XA2 Ultra, on the other hand, will feature a Snapdragon 630 chipset with 4GB of RAM and 32/64GB of internal storage. The display is really big: 6-inch screen with FullHD resolution. The photo compartment is also different: on the back we find the same 23 Megapixel sensor, while on the front there is a dual camera, with an 8 Megapixel sensor and a 16 Megapixel one for wide-angle photos. The fingerprint sensor is also placed at the back. The battery is 3580 mAh.
Price and release date in Italy Xperia XA2 and XA2 Ultra
The Xperia XA2 and the Xperia XA2 Ultra are available on the market from February 16 at a price of 349.90 euros for the first model and 429.90 euros for the Ultra version.
Features Xperia L2
Xperia L2 is an entry-level featuring a MediaTek MT6737 chipset. Also on board we find 3GB of memory and 32GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card). The screen is 5.5 inches with 1280×720 pixel resolution. On the back we find a 13-megapixel sensor, while on the front we find an 8-megapixel lens. The battery is 33000 mAh that should ensure a fairly high autonomy. The Xperia L2 should arrive on the market from February 9 at a price between 249 and 299 euros.
