The Handmaid's Tale is among the revelation series of recent years. It is a dystopian show based on the 1985 novel titled The Handmaid's Tale written by Margaret Atwood. The plot tells of a distant future in which women will be deprived of their rights and will be used only to conceive children of rich men.
Unfortunately, due to a devastating virus, only a few women will have the ability to bear children and these will be called handmaids. The TV series touches on strong topics and is constructed in detail. Thanks to the appreciation from the audience, a fifth season has been renewed and the news came just when the audience is still waiting for the fourth chapter, which has been postponed to 2021 due to the pandemic. The acclaimed series, according to what we learned during the Disney Investor Day, from now on could be broadcast only on the streaming platform Disney +, while now we find it on other online platforms. Therefore, it is a product coveted by several companies, accomplice to the quality and awards received over the seasons.
The future of The Handmaid's Tale: the anticipations
The Handmaid's Tale was born in 2017 and in a few years it imposed itself in the video streaming landscape, obtaining several awards, including 9 Emmy Awards and 2 Golden Globes. We still don't know exactly when the fifth season will be released, but the producer Hulu promised that the date will be announced soon.
After all, the audience is still waiting for The Handmaid's Tale 4 postponed several times because of the Coronavirus. This chapter already represents a turning point: in fact, the episodes will be directed by the same protagonist Elisabeth Moss, who will be both behind and in front of the camera.

The fifth season announced at Investor Day
During the Disney Investor Day that was held a few days ago in live streaming, the platform has announced with surprise the arrival of the fifth chapter. So there will be an important change: the new episodes will be broadcast only on Disney +.
Of course to have the final certainty we will have to wait a little longer. In fact, the release of the fifth season is not expected before 2022. On this occasion Bruce Miller, showrunner of the series sent an emotional message to the audience:
"I thank both Hulu and MGM (the two production companies of the series). Thanks to them the show will be back for a fifth season, and thanks especially to our loyal fans for their support. I look forward to continuing to tell these stories, along with our incredible cast and crew, and can't wait to get back on the air with season four starting next year."
