The next Samsung foldables will be water resistant

The new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 will have an IP certification that attests to their resistance to water and dust, to convince users of their durability.

The next Samsung foldables will have among their features to be water resistant. Still has not been indicated in an official way the certification indicating to all intents and purposes the time of resistance in contact with liquids but, certainly, this is an interesting news for the two foldable of the company now almost in the home stretch.

The news, at the moment still a rumor unconfirmed but supported by several of the most informed sources on the web, would confirm the will of Samsung to want to aim really high with its two new foldable. That of the IP rating is certainly good news for future buyers of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, or the former Galaxy Z Flip 2 recently starring a name change wanted by Samsung itself, which would thus have an additional element to protect their devices that, already on paper, are among the most expensive of the entire market, as has already happened with previous versions released in the past.

Samsung folders, which IP rating?

As anticipated, there is still no detailed information on the IP rating assigned to Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 and, given the form factor, it will probably be difficult to count on particularly high parameters, such as the IP68 of the Galaxy S21 Ultra model. This does not detract from the fact that it will be welcomed, in any case, as a welcome improvement for improved durability.

In fact, at the same price, none of the previous foldable had been able to count on water resistance or dust. A detail that, added to a not indifferent cost, had made many likely buyers take a step backwards; just one small distraction, they would have in fact put at risk the complete operation of the devices from well over a thousand euros.

Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, the other features

In the meantime, Galaxy Z Fold 3 has received its 3C certification, finally making known some of its features, such as the dual battery system for a total capacity of 4275mAh. Specifically, these are two accumulators, 2215mAh and 2060mAh, respectively positioned in the two halves of the smartphone.

The SM-F916 model, this is the identification number of Z Fold 3, will likely be a thinner smartphone than the previous model but also less powerful, since on Z Fold 2 the battery could count on a total capacity of 4500mAh. Still to be confirmed, however, support for the S Pen, as well as the smaller size of the external screen compared to the previous version. Other rumors, unconfirmed, also speak of an internal memory of 256GB, while for Z Flip 3 could be available the double denomination of 128GB and 256GB.

Samsung Folds, launch date

Although a certain date has not yet been defined, Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 2 should make their market debut in July 2021. Despite rumors circulating over the past few months, they will be the only two foldable smartphones for this year.
