The super charger that charges half a battery in 15 minutes

Chinese company Vivo has developed Super Flash Charge 120W technology that charges the smartphone battery in just 13 minutes: here's how it works

In China, it's open war between smartphone manufacturers. But we are not talking about a war based on the characteristics of the devices, but on the speed of charging the smartphone. Compared to a few years ago charging times have been reduced considerably thanks to more powerful chargers and new technologies. Many devices feature Quick Charge, which allows a smartphone with a 3000mAh battery to be charged in just over an hour and a half. Now Vivo, a leading smartphone manufacturer in China, is ready to introduce a charger that can charge a smartphone in just 13 minutes. A real record.

What is the secret of Vivo's charger? The power of the device. The charger is 120W, while the ones we usually use are barely 20W. Vivo has anticipated the new Super FlashCharge 120W with a post on social networks and is ready to show it to the general public at the end of June, when the Mobile World Congress will take place in Shanghai. Before seeing the charger on the market, however, we will have to wait a little longer: Vivo has not announced with which smartphone it will be launched on the market.

Super Flash Charge 120W, the super fast charging

Batteries are getting bigger and bigger and recharge in less time. In China, manufacturers are fighting a no-holds-barred war. The first to launch a fast charging system was OnePlus with the Dash Charge, followed by Huawei and Oppo with the 50W SuperVOOC Flash Charge. Last March Xiaomi surprised everyone with the Super Charge Turbo, a charging technology that uses a 100W charger and promises 100% battery life in just 17 minutes (with a 4000mAh battery).

Vivo wanted to outdo everyone by introducing the Super Flash Charge 120W. The Chinese company promises that a smartphone with a 4000mAh battery will charge in less than 13 minutes. The technology is expected to make its debut at the end of June during the Mobile World Congress in Shanghai, one of the world's most important exhibitions dedicated to the world of smartphones.

The dangers of fast charging

If the presentation of the Super Flash Charge 120W is set for June, it is not known when the technology will be used on a smartphone. Surely, the super fast charging will not be available for the Vivo smartphones already available on the market and we will have to wait for the new releases scheduled for the end of the year.

On the one hand, the Super Flash Charge 120W will allow charging the smartphone in no time, but on the other hand, big doubts arise about the reliability of the smartphone. The power of the charger will lead to a considerable increase in the temperature of the smartphone's components and at the moment there is no technology that can quickly cool the device. However, Vivo has surely taken this problem into consideration and is already working on a possible solution
