Netflix has confirmed that filming has begun. The new episodes won't arrive until the fall of 2021. Here's why and what they will be about
Netflix through its social pages has announced great news for fans of The Umbrella Academy: the third season will come streaming on the platform. Although the rumors were now insistent, the audience was waiting for a long time for the confirmation that has arrived on Twitter and in the other channels of the company.
The filming should begin in February 2021, provided that the situation related to Covid-19 improves. The new episodes will have to answer many questions left unanswered so far. One of the most important revolve around the birth of Sparrow Academy, the identity and past of the father and Ben's role in the company. In short, there are so many unresolved questions and the universe of the TV series may expand even further. On the other hand, in recent months there are some rumors about the production of a spinoff dedicated to the character of Klaus. Waiting for possible confirmations, we just have to wait for the new season that should be released at the end of 2021.
The Umbrella Academy 3: what do we know so far?
The second season of The Umbrella Academy was released on Netflix in July 2020 and revealed the fate of the seven Hargreeves brothers. In season two, they came together to save the world from the apocalypse thanks to their superpowers. The chapter had a really positive response and this led Netflix and the whole production to renew the content for another season.
The new episodes will probably be ten, just like those of the second season and will be, once again, inspired by the comic book from which the whole saga is based written by Gerard Way, the founder of the band My Chemical Romance.
The protagonists will still be them: Klaus (Robert Sheehan), Luther (Tom Hopper), Diego (David Castañeda), Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman), Cinque (Aidan Gallagher), Ben (Justin H. Min) and Vanya (Ellen Page).

The second season ended with the success of the Hargreeves brothers: they stopped the apocalypse planned in Dallas in the 1960s and returned in 2019. However, the past episodes changed the future and led to the creation of a timeline in which Sir Reginald is the founder of Sparrow Academy instead of Umbrella Academy and Six, the dead brother, is actually alive and ready to spread panic.

The showrunner anticipated that the next season will investigate more about the origin of Sir Reginald: who is he and what is his mission? In addition, they will try to understand what was the fate of the other 36 children.
