The world’s largest Android tablet: 98-inch screen

ViewSonic IFP9850 is a 98-inch touchscreen that runs Android 8 and turns into a tablet when needed

It's as big as four 50-inch monitors side by side and as big as a gasoline-powered car, but under the hood it has Android 8: it's the world's largest tablet, but perhaps we should consider it the largest touchscreen monitor since it has nothing mobile at all.

We're talking about the ViewSonic IFP9850 4K Ultra HD Display, a 98-inch monitor with an interactive panel thanks to 20 touch points that can be used by multiple users simultaneously. But it is not a TV, because it does not integrate any tuner. It is, therefore, a very special product and intended for specific uses such as teaching or business presentations. Hardly a consumer user could find it useful, also because given the size (224x132x9 centimeters) and weight (105 kilos) is already difficult to determine where to put it.

ViewSonic IFP9850: technical characteristics

The ViewSonic IFP9850 is a 98-inch 4K resolution (3,840×2,160 pixels) LED display equipped with a twenty-point infrared touch layer, compatible with multiple touch. Inside is a quad-core CPU (ARM Cortex Dual Core A73 1.2GHz+Dual Core A53) at 1.2 GHz and a five-core Mali G51 GPU. RAM memory is 3 GB, ROM is 16 GB. Pre-installed are the ViewBoard OS based on Android 8, the myViewBoard tool, a browser based on Chromium, and the Zoom app for video conferencing. The ports are very rich: 3 HDMI 2.0 inputs (and one output), a VGA port, a 3.5mm audio input and output, a SPDIF audio output, 3 USB 3.0 and 2 USB 2.0 ports, an Ethernet port, and a slot to add the Wi-Fi connection module. There is also a good audio part, with two 10-watt speakers and a 15-watt subwoofer. Not very high power, but enough for the uses for which this strange product is intended.

ViewSonic IFP9850: what it's for and how much it costs

It is clear that such a device is not needed to watch TV series on Netflix or to do photo editing in Photoshop. This is a screen intended for training classrooms and meeting rooms, where you can take advantage of both size and touch. The professional use, moreover, is confirmed by the price: $9,499, which does not include the wall-mounting bracket ($189) or other options that might be useful in meeting rooms.
