Tour de France 2019, how to watch the sixth stage on TV and streaming

Find out the schedule, favorites and how to watch on TV and live streaming for free the sixth stage Mulhouse-La Planche des Belles Filles of the Tour de France 2019

After five quite interlocutory stages (only the team time trial created a bit of selection), there is finally the first uphill finish of the Tour de France 2019. The sixth stage from Mulhouse to La Planche des Belles Filles will put the riders to the test: there are no less than seven grand prix of the mountain with the last seven kilometers with gradients that never drop below 8%.

Already in 2017 La Planche des Belles Filles was the protagonist of an uphill finish. To triumph was Fabio Aru, who showed everyone his climbing skills. The Sardinian cyclist is at the 2019 Tour de France, but is returning from a delicate injury that kept him away from racing for several months. He doesn't start among the favorites, but if the sensations will be good, he could attempt a sprint. Among the protagonists of stage six, however, will surely be Bernal, Sky's new phenomenon who arrived at the 2019 Tour de France with the intention of winning it. Today's course suits his characteristics perfectly and he could take advantage of it to create the first gaps in the classification.

The sixth stage of the 2019 Tour de France will be broadcast live on TV by Rai and Eurosport 1 (available on Sky's satellite). To watch the sixth stage Mulhouse-La Planche des Belles Filles on free-to-air TV, you need to tune in first to RaiSport+ HD and then to Rai 2. Fans can watch the 2019 Tour de France live streaming on RaiPlay or on Eurosport Player.

Stage 6 Tour de France 2019 Mulhouse-La Planche des Belles Filles: the route

Seven grand prix of the mountain (three first category), more than three thousand meters of elevation gain and uphill finish. The sixth stage of the Tour de France 2019 will be the first real test to understand who are the favorites to win the Grande Boucle.

Once at the top, the route continues to climb for another kilometer to reach the Grand Ballon. After 67 kilometers, the third GPM of the day begins: Col du Hundsruck, 5.3 kilometers at 6.9%. At 70 kilometers from the finish line, the ascent towards the Ballon d'Assace begins, a long climb with an average gradient of 5.8%. Before reaching the grand finale, the cyclists will have to climb two more mountains: Col de Croix and Col de Chevres. Seven kilometers from the finish line begins La Planche des Belles Filles, one of the hardest climbs of this Tour de France. The average gradient is 8.7 percent, but with sections that exceed 20 percent.

Favorites of the sixth stage of the 2019 Tour de France

The stage favors breakaways from afar, and it could be a good opportunity for some escapees to reach the finish line solo. But it will be difficult. For the first uphill finish, the big boys don't want to disfigure themselves. The list of favorites for the sixth stage of the 2019 Tour de France is very long: Bernal, Geraint Thomas, Richie Porte, Nairo Quintana, Adam Yates, Fuglsang (who is recovering from the fall suffered at the beginning of the Tour), Bardet and Pinot. Vincenzo Nibali and Fabio Aru should also be kept an eye on. The two Italians arrived at the Tour de France without a specific goal: if the sensations will be positive they could even try an attack (in 2017 it was Aru to win on this arrival).
