WhatsApp doesn’t work on some smartphones, what to do

If the version of WhatsApp is obsolete, the application may no longer work. Here's how to fix the problem

You've opened WhatsApp on your smartphone and a message has appeared warning you that the version of the application is obsolete and that to continue using it you need to update it as soon as possible. If you're thinking it's a bad joke or a virus, you don't have to worry: it's a small WhatsApp bug that has affected many users throughout Italy in recent days, but that was promptly fixed by the developers

The alert message, however, does not appear only because of a bug. In some cases, it has a solid foundation to build on. WhatsApp, in fact, in recent years has decided to suspend support for disused mobile operating systems such as Nokia S40 or Symbian. But that's not all.

  • BlackBerry OS e BlackBerry 10
  • Nokia S40
  • Nokia Symbian S60
  • Android 2.1 and Android 2.2
  • Windows Phone 7
  • Windows Phone 8 (dal 31 dicembre 2019)
  • iPhone 3GS/iOS 6.

Versione WhatsApp obsoleta, cosa fare

In this case, to get back to using WhatsApp you have to enter the App Store or Google Play Store and update the application to the latest version available.

WhatsApp, the alert message is the fault of a bug

As mentioned at the beginning, if in recent days you have received a message warning you that you need to update WhatsApp because it is obsolete, it is a small bug, quickly fixed by the developers. It's not the first time this has happened and it probably won't be the last, either: small problems of "youth" for the world's most used app.
