WhatsApp returns to pay from January 11: what is true

In recent days a message announces that from January 11 WhatsApp returns to pay, but it is a hoax message

WhatsApp returns to pay. Or at least this is what they report of the messages that are going viral in recent hours and that announce the return to payment of the messaging application. Those who have been using WhatsApp for more than a few years, will remember very well that initially the app had a cost: you paid just under a euro for a year. Then with the purchase by Facebook, things changed and WhatsApp became free.

Some prankster, however, decided to exploit this memory and began circulating messages in groups and private conversations in which they announced the return to paid WhatsApp.

“Sabato mattina whatsapp diventerà a pagamento! Mandalo a 10 persone."

Facebook, the owner of the application, has been quite clear about this: the app is free and will remain so for many years to come.

WhatsApp paid: how to defend yourself from scam messages

Let's be clear: receiving these kinds of messages is not dangerous. They do not hide any kind of virus, nor do they invite the user to click on some link or something similar. It is not, therefore, phishing messages, but simply a fake news gone viral. Unfortunately, defending yourself from these scam messages is not easy: the application's technicians have not developed any kind of filter. The only thing to do is not to reply or share the fake news we receive daily on the app.
