WhatsApp to pay from November 2019: what is true

In these hours a message is going around warning that WhatsApp will return to pay. Here's what's true about this message.

Saturday morning WhatsApp will go back to paid. Unless you send a message first to 10 people and then to another 20 contacts. For the past couple of hours a message has been circulating on the chats of the messaging application announcing the return to paid WhatsApp. What is true in this message? Absolutely nothing. It is simply a fake news artfully created to go viral.

It is certainly not the first time that such a message spreads among WhatsApp groups. Unfortunately, many people read these messages and immediately share them with all their contacts.

“Sabato mattina whatsapp diventerà a pagamento! Mandalo a 10 persone.

Usually malicious people use this kind of messages to steal personal information or credentials of the current account to empty the credit card.

WhatsApp paid: how to defend themselves from false messages

Let's make it clear for the umpteenth time: Saturday morning WhatsApp will not become paid. And it will never become so. The message that is going around in these hours, despite being written in perfect Italian, is a hoax. You don't have to forward the message to 10 people and then to another 20 contacts to get WhatsApp for free.

Defending yourself from fake news on WhatsApp is not easy. There is no kind of filter and protection. The only thing we can do is not forward the message to other friends and delete it immediately from our smartphone.
