From February 1, 2020 WhatsApp will no longer support devices running Android 2.3.7 and iOS 8. What changes and what you need to do
Just a few more days and WhatsApp will no longer support some smartphones: from February 1, 2020 there will be problems with devices running Android and iOS (the iPhones). This is not a fake news or a hoax, but a news also confirmed by WhatsApp and that you can read directly from the FAQ of the application. But we also want to reassure you: the application will stop supporting mostly dated smartphones, with more than a few years on their shoulders.
Before seeing what devices are involved, it is necessary to explain what it means to no longer have support from developers. Basically, WhatsApp will no longer release updates to the app for the smartphones in question. Quali sono gli smartphone che non sono più supportati da WhatsApp dal 1 febbraio
Da oramai diversi mesi WhatsApp ha annunciato che dal 1 febbraio 2020 non verranno più supportati gli smartphone con:
- Android 2.3.7 e versioni precedenti
- iOS 8 e versioni precedenti.
Si tratta di versioni dei due sistemi operativi uscite rispettivamente nel 2011 (Android 2.3.7) e nel 2014 (iOS 8) e oramai poco presenti sugli smartphone.
Perché WhatsApp non supporta più Android 2.3.7 e iOS 8
Per una software house è normale dismettere il supporto per le versioni più vecchie di un sistema operativo. La decisione degli sviluppatori di WhatsApp è più che legittima: non bisogna investire risorse su smartphone che non vengono più utilizzati dagli utenti. È questo il motivo di fondo che ha portato Facebook a non supportare più alcuni smartphone Android e iPhone.
Cosa cambia per gli utenti
Per tutti coloro che hanno uno smartphone acquistato negli ultimi 3-4 anni non ci sarà nessun cambiamento: potranno continuare a utilizzare WhatsApp senza nessun tipo di problema e riceveranno gli aggiornamenti con le nuove funzionalità per almeno un altro paio di anni.
