Xiaomi Mi Notebook: Pro in hardware but not in price

Xiaomi has unveiled the new Mi Notebook Ultra and Mi Notebook Pro: two products with good features, sometimes very good, at moderate prices as usual

Other two notebooks fit into the well-known philosophy of Xiaomi, that of offering quality items at affordable prices: are the new Mi Notebook Pro and Mi Notebook Ultra announced in recent hours, two machines that expand the catalog of the company already composed of several valuable models.

And of considerable value, especially in relation to the price, are also the two new Mi Notebook, which also share many technical features such as the use of eleventh-generation Intel Core processors, aluminum construction, or the equipment in terms of inputs, Thunderbolt 4, USB-C, USB 3.2 Gen1 and HDMI 1.4. Of the two however, the slightly higher-end one is the Mi Notebook Ultra, which also differs from the Pro in that it features a 15.6-inch display instead of a 14-inch one, with a refresh rate that touches 90 Hz instead of the traditional 60 Hz of the Mi Notebook Pro.

Xiaomi Mi Notebook Ultra and Pro, differences

As anticipated, one of the most important differentiations between the two new Mi Notebooks from Xiaomi is in the display: Ultra has a 15.6-inch 90 Hz display with IPS technology of 3.200 x 2,000 pixels in 16:10 format and maximum brightness of 300 nits, Pro one 14-inch, 60 Hz and 2,560 x 1,600 pixels.

The other main difference lies in the battery capacity, a direct consequence of the different displays and therefore different sizes: 70 Wh for Ultra, 56 Wh for Pro, both with fast charging at 65 watts via USB-C. And then, precisely, size and weight: Ultra measures 350.1 x 242.3 x 17.9 mm for 1.7 kg weight, Pro 315.6 x 220.4 x 17.3 mm for 1.4 kg.

Xiaomi Mi Notebook, common features

The differences between the two new Xiaomi notebooks, in fact, are limited to those. The remaining technical features are shared, starting with the processors: Intel Core i7-11370H or Core i5-11300H, with 8 or 16 GB of DDR4 RAM at 3,200 MHz depending on the configuration chosen, while the storage space in PCIe SSD is invariant to 512 GB.

On the connectivity front there are a Thunderbolt 4 input and a USB-C, both with power delivery, a USB 3.2 and a 2.0, an HDMI 1.4, and then Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1. Present is a 720p webcam for video calls and a fingerprint reader for secure unlocking with Windows 10, which is pre-installed.

For audio, the two new Xiaomi Mi Notebook Ultra and Pro rely on a pair of 2-watt speakers, with DTS technology, 3.5 mm jack and microphone. A single color proposed, identical for both: Lustruous Gray.

Xiaomi Mi Notebook Ultra and Pro, prices

The prices of Xiaomi Mi Notebook Ultra and Mi Notebook Pro for the moment have been communicated only for India, and we do not know if and when they will be available in our parts where, however, due to taxes and various levies, prices will be higher than those below, converted into euros to get an idea of how much they might cost.

Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro starts at around 650 euros for the variant with i5 chip and 8 GB of RAM to end up on about 830 needed for the one with i7 and 16 GB of RAM.

Xiaomi Mi Notebook Ultra starts at around 690 euros for the variant with i5 chip and 8 GB of RAM to end up on about 880 needed for the one with i7 and 16 GB of RAM.
