Il servizio di streaming della HBO, punta allo sviluppo di nuove serie animate per allargare la "famiglia" del Trono di Spade. Sarebbero infatti in fase di sviluppo due ulteriori progetti secondo quanto riporta The Hollywood Reporter. These would be added to a first that was talked about at the beginning of the year by HBO max, but of which nothing leaks out months later.
The first announced spin-off of the Iron Throne is House of the Dragon, based on George R.R. Martin's novel "Fire and Blood". We know it will be released in 2022 on Sky and NOW Tv at the same time as the American release of the series. The setting of the first spin-off, prequel to the mother series, will take us back to about 300 years before the events of the Iron Throne and will tell us about the House Targaryen. We know so much about this long-awaited prequel to Games of Thrones. Curiosity and interest is always high for any product of the Iron Throne. The announcement of two more spin-offs can only make the millions of fans of the series happy.
Thrones of Swords: what we know about these animated spin-offs
Hollywood Reporter reports news of just one of the two animated series in the works from HBO max. One of the projects would be set in a territory never seen in the original series: the Empire of Yi Ti. It would be a region on the continent of Essos on the edge of the southeastern world we know from the parent series. In the mind of George R.R. Martin, this territory is very much inspired by Imperial China. The people of Yi Ti are among the most advanced and knowledgeable societies in the known world.
In the confirmed spin-off of the Iron Throne, House of Dragon, reference is made to the Yi Ti empire because one of the main characters, Lord Corlys Velaryon, known as the Sea Serpent is known to have reached that distant territory.
Throne of Swords: live-action series is canceled
HBO has dropped the live-action series, tentatively titled Flea Bottom, set in Flea Bottom, the poorest neighborhood in King's Landing, where Arya Stark takes refuge after escaping the Red Keep in The Iron Throne.
The series was expected to be the weakest and least advanced project compared to the others, hence the decision not to continue production. HBO Max, HBO's streaming platform, has not denied the news.
The Iron Throne: other projects
Another project also related to the Iron Throne is 10,000 Ships: a prequel in which we find warrior princess Nymeria, who conquered and ruled Dorne.
9 Voyages is another series that will chronicle the travels of Lord Corlys Velaryon and also, Tales of Dunk and Egg, a spin-off focused on the adventures of Ser Duncan the High and a young Aegon V of House Targaryen.
