Compare cells in Excel - this option is available
Excel is one of the most famous spreadsheet programs. The functions offered allow you to do everything you need to create tables, graphs and statistics. Through the different commands, you also have the possibility to perform calculations and comparisons of multiple cells.
How to compare cells in Excel
When you have large data sets in Excel, it is worth using commands, for example, if you want to calculate the sum or compare several cells. Microsoft's spreadsheet program also offers different commands for this purpose, depending on what you want to compare.- Using Excel's IDENTICAL function, you compare whether the content of two cells is exactly the same content.
- The syntax of the function is "IDENTICAL(cell1;cell2)", where you insert the number of the cells to be compared in each case.
- Followed by the content of cell 1 is compared with that of cell 2. If the word "True" appears as the result in the selected cell, both contents are identical, if "False" is there, the two contents are not identical.
- Optionally, you can use the OR function to check whether a certain content occurs in a series of cells.
- For this, you only need to first write "OR(IDENTICAL(cell1;cell2:cell5)". Cell 1 contains the content you want to check, the other two cells indicate from which cell to which cell you want to compare the content with cell 1.
