Nowadays, a lot of personal content is stored on the PC. That is precisely why it is important to completely clean up the device before you sell it. But in addition to deleting the content, it's also important to make sure your MacBook is no longer linked to your Apple ID and doesn't contain any other personal login information.

How to prepare your MacBook for sale

If you want to sell your MacBook, you must first prepare the device appropriately. This is necessary so that you do not lose any important data, but also so that no third party gets hold of any of your personal data.

1. First create a backup of all the important data that is on the device. For this you have several options to choose from, such as iTunes or iCloud.
2. If your MacBook is running the operating system version macOS Mojave or older, then you must now log off in iTunes. Go for this in iTunes on "Account" > "Authorizations" > "Deauthorize this computer".
3. In the next step, you need to log out your device from iCloud. Gehen Sie hierfür über das „Apple-Menü“ auf die „Systemeinstellungen“. Wählen Sie anschließend „Apple-ID“ aus.
