LinkedIn networking: How to make new contacts

LinkedIn is now used by over 600 million members. The platform is primarily used to find new career opportunities and expand your professional network. If you would like to network with others on LinkedIn, there are several ways to do so.

How to network with other members on LinkedIn

A LinkedIn profile can have up to 30,000 direct contacts. To network with another person on LinkedIn, you have the following options:

• Click on the profile of the person you want to network with and click "Network" there. Here you can send a message to the member in advance.
• If you search for specific groups on LinkedIn, you will get a page of search results. To the right of a member's information, click "Network."
• Optionally, LinkedIn offers to expand your network by having the application search your email address book for potential contacts.
• Using the "People you may know" feature, LinkedIn suggests users who are already indirectly connected to you. You can add them by clicking on "Network".
