Samsung Galaxy S20: SIM card - all info
All models of the Samsung Galaxy S20, i.e. the S20, the S20+ and the S20 Ultra 5G, have the new eSIM permanently installed in the devices. Moreover, you can not only insert another SIM card via the hybrid SIM card slot, but also a microSD card as additional storage.
These SIM card options are offered by the Samsung Galaxy S20
The Samsung Galaxy S20 offers you some flexibility regarding the SIM card thanks to Dual SIM and the built-in eSIM:- eSIM: stands for embedded SIM, a SIM card permanently built into the device. To unlock this SIM card, you need an activation code from your mobile operator.
- So you don't need to insert a SIM card anymore, you just need to activate the one that is already installed.
- If you want to insert your SIM card into the Samsung Galaxy S20, it must have the nano SIM format.
- Nano SIM: You can insert two nano SIM cards into the S20. If your SIM card should have a different format, you can have the SIM card cut to the correct format.
- Dual-SIM: You can use two different SIM cards at the same time and thus have two active phone numbers.
- In total, you can use up to three SIM cards in the S20 with eSIM and two nano SIM cards at the same time. Nevertheless, you can use a maximum of two phone numbers at the same time. Three active phone numbers (Tri-SIM) is not yet possible.
More storage instead of a SIM card: The SIM hybrid slot
- The SIM card slots in the S20 are a nano SIM slot and a hybrid slot.
- In the hybrid compartment, you can also insert a microSD card instead of a nano SIM card, which you can use to expand your storage space.
- Simultaneously with the microSD card, you can insert a nano SIM and thus use two phone numbers with the eSIM.
