Sharing your hard drive in Windows 10 - what you can do

To avoid data loss, you can share your hard drive in Windows 10. These so-called partitions can be created quite easily and without much effort, so you can safely distribute your data on them.

How to divide your hard drive in Windows 10

If all your data is stored only in one "section" of your hard drive, then it can happen that, for example, in case of damage, a complete data loss threatens. Therefore, partitions offer, where you can store your data in different areas and so your system data is also comprehensively protected.
  1. First enter the term "compmgmt.msc" in the Windows search box.
  2. In the left column of the window, select the "Disk Management".
  3. Thereupon you will see all the partitions created so far. The self-created buffer partition of the system, you can disregard.
  4. Now select with a click of the right mouse button on the system partition, the sub-item "Shrink Volume" from.
  5. Now you have the opportunity to specify how much space you want to allocate this partition. Here you can be quiet generous and act entirely at your discretion.
  6. Now click "OK".
  7. Your newly created partition is titled "Unallocated". Wählen Sie diesen Punkt mit einem Klick der rechten Maustaste aus und betätigen Sie dort den Punkt „Neues Volume“.

  9. Mit „OK“ haben Sie Ihre Festplatte nun erfolgreich geteilt.
