Google Chrome: Backup - these options you have
While you use Google Chrome, the browser stores data such as web page addresses, bookmarks, search histories and passwords. If you now change your PC and don't have a Google Chrome account, this data will be lost. However, you can copy and save the folder with the data as a backup.
This is how you create a backup in Google Chrome
To back up your Google Chrome data, you can either connect Google Chrome to your Google account or back up the Google Chrome data folder.- Click on the three dots in the top right corner of Google Chrome and select "Settings".
- In the settings, you can see who is connected to Google Chrome at the top under "People". If there is no account stored, it says "Sign in". With this button you can connect Google Chrome to your Google account and synchronize your data.
- To copy the local Chrome data folder, go to the directory C:\Users\%NAME%\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\. On macOS it is Users/%NAME%/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome/.
- Here you will find a folder called "Default".
