How to remove KeRanger Trojan

Before you remove the Trojan called KeRanger, you should first check if it is even present on your operating system.

1. In Finder, go to the menu item "Go to" and then further to "Go to folder".
2. First, enter the file path "/Applications/Transmission.app/Contents/Resources/General.rtf" and then the file path "/Volumes /Transmission/Transmission.app/Contents/Resources/General.rtf". If any of the files exist, your PC is infected with the Trojan.
3. You should delete Transmission by dragging the app to the Trash.
4. Look in the Activity Viewer to see if the process "kernel_service" is currently running.
5. Click it and then continue to "Analyze".
6. Look to see if the path is "/Users/Library/kernes_service". If it is, click "Exit" and then click "Exit" again.
7. Go back to the Finder and look for the files ".kernel_pid", ".kernel_time", ".kernel_complete" or "kernel_service" in the directory "/Users/Library/". Delete the files if you find them.

When infected with KeRanger Trojan, a DMG file is hidden via transmission like a Bit Torrent client, which when clicked injects a program into the kernel that encrypts files and then decrypts them for ransom.
