Remove Activation Lock - is it possible?

The Activation Lock is a security feature that is built into Apple devices by default. It protects your device from access by third parties in case it is stolen or you have lost it. If you want to disable the lock, then this is possible with your Apple ID.

How to remove Activation Lock from your devices

The Activation Lock is enabled by default in every Apple device. This protects you from others being able to access your data if you lose the device or it is stolen. If you want to deactivate the lock, then you usually need your Apple ID and the corresponding password. However, you have different options to disable the lock.
  • If you have deleted your device without logging out of iCloud first, then it may be that the lock is still active even when you reset it. In this case, you will need to log in with the same Apple ID and password as you did before the reset. Alternatively, you can also use the two-factor authentication, if you have set it up before.
  • If you bought the device from another person, however, and the activation lock is still active, you must contact the previous owner. Only he can log in via his Apple ID or iCloud access and then deactivate the lock. Über iCloud ist es notwendig, das Gerät aus der Liste der angemeldeten Geräte zu entfernen.
