SmartTV and Bluetooth headphones: these options

When it comes to solo TV viewing, headphones are a popular option, in no small part due to the fact that the built-in speakers on TVs are traditionally not among the best. Bluetooth headphones are the first choice here, and we explain how it's possible.

Bluetooth headphones can be connected to the smartTV via an auxiliary device if necessary.

Nowadays, wireless headphones are mandatory. On the couch in front of the TV, this is even more true, both for reasons of convenience and distance.

SmartTV: Connect Bluetooth headphones in two ways

Basically, there are two situations:
  1. Your SmartTV has a built-in Bluetooth module for this purpose. In many, but not all modern devices, this is the case. Then you just need to open the audio properties of the device and activate the Bluetooth option there.
  2. If your TV is not independently capable of Bluetooth, you can manually upgrade. A so-called Bluetooth transmitter is required: you plug this into the audio port, at the other end is the Bluetooth transmitter.
When buying the transmitter, it is important to pay attention to whether the audio output of the TV is a digital (i.e. optical) or a classic jack connector. Zu beachten ist außerdem, dass es je nach Transmitter zu Übertragungsverzögerungen kommen kann. Die Latenzzeiten sollten folglich möglichst gering sein, um dies zu vermeiden.
