Encrypt data properly in the cloud

The cloud is a popular way to back up important data and documents, thereby reducing the load on your hard drives. But to be sure that no one will misuse your memories, you should properly encrypt everything you upload to the cloud.

Protect your privacy

You want your data to be safe in the cloud and you don't want third parties to have access to your documents. Therefore, you should secure everything before uploading it to the cloud.
  1. Download Cryptomator. This program is free and can be used with all cloud services.
  2. Install the program. When the installation is complete, the provider will ask you for a donation, which is voluntary and does not affect the use of the program.
  3. Now open the program and select the option "Create vault". This vault represents an encrypted folder into which you can copy all important data and documents that you want to upload to the cloud.
  4. Choose a name and enter the cloud directly as the destination storage location. Now create a secure password for your vault. Once the password is secure, click "Create vault".
  5. Unlock the vault with your password and upload the data you want to protect from third-party access directly to the folder.

Backup data from multiple devices

You often use multiple PCs as well as mobile devices from which you want to upload data to the cloud. It is important to install Cryptomator on each device so that uploading to your vault works smoothly.
