iTunes music disappeared after update

After updates of the music program iTunes users miss some of their music tracks again and again. Often the problem here lies with iTunes and the music tracks are not really gone. In exceptional cases, however, the files were deleted from the computer and can not be restored.

What to do if the iTunes music is gone after the update?

After updates of iTunes, it has now happened more often that users were missing individual music tracks or entire albums. If the files were only deleted from the iTunes library and not from the hard drive, the problem can be fixed. However, if the files were removed from your computer's hard drive, the music tracks cannot be recovered. So, first check if the music tracks are still present in the original folder. If you find them here, you can proceed with iTunes repair.

How to solve the problem

  1. Close iTunes.
  2. Open Windows Explorer and enter the following file path at the top: "C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes\".
  3. Confirm with Enter to open the folder.
  4. On a MAC, the path is "User Folder\Music\iTunes\".
  5. Find the file "iTunes Libary.itl" and delete it.
  6. Suchen Sie die Datei „iTunes Library JJJJ-MM-TT“ und kopieren Sie diese in den Ordner „iTunes“.
  7. Bennen Sie die Datei in „iTunes Library“ um.
  8. Schließen Sie die Ordner und starten Sie iTunes.
