Microsoft Edge disappeared - what to do?

Microsoft Edge is the new browser from Microsoft and is supposed to replace the former browser Internet Explorer. Usually, Microsoft Edge is already pre-installed if you use Windows as your operating system. However, after an update, it can happen that the browser is suddenly no longer installed on your system.

What can you do if Microsoft Edge has disappeared

On every Windows system, Microsoft Edge is already pre-installed and thus can be used at any time. However, there may be a problem that causes the browser to suddenly disappear. If this is the case, test various steps.
  1. First, try to locate Microsoft Edge via the search of your system.
  2. If the browser is found, you can drag it back to your desktop with a right click.
  3. If Microsoft Edge is not on your computer, you can also reinstall the browser.
  4. Open the "PowerShell" as administrator via the search box. To do this, right-click on the entry and select "Run as administrator".
  5. Enter the command "Get-AppXPackage -Name Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml" -Verbose}" in the console and press Enter to execute it.
  6. Then restart your PC. Microsoft's browser should now be installed on your computer again.
