Microsoft Edge: Change search engine

Microsoft Edge already has a search engine pre-installed, namely Bing. If you too are one of those users who prefer another search engine like Google, then you have the option to modify Microsoft Edge to your liking.

This way you can use the search engine of your choice

Of course, Bing also has its place as a search engine. However, if you prefer another search engine, you can also use it by default under Microsoft Edge.
  1. First open Google and click on the menu button, which you can recognize by the three dots.
  2. Click on "Settings" and select the option "Show advanced settings".
  3. Scroll through until you find the option "Search in address bar with". Click on it and select the "Add new" option.
  4. Now you need to select "www.google.de" and confirm that you want to set this address as default.
  5. Microsoft Edge will now automatically apply your settings.
  6. Restart the browser and you will see that you are now searching with Google instead of Bing.
  7. Of course, you can also apply this procedure to other search engines that you want to use for your everyday use.

Is it a permanent decision?

If you want to use another search engine again, you can simply do the same again and store a new address as default. Make sure that you close and restart Microsoft Edge afterwards, so that the changes are implemented correctly.
