Edge: Google instead of Bing as search engine - how to do it

The search engine can be easily changed in Edge. By default, the Bing is set here. However, many users prefer Google and want to use this search engine in all browsers. To change the settings, first call up Google's website.

Google as default search engine in Microsoft Edge

Microsoft Edge is the default browser from Microsoft and comes pre-installed on Windows systems. Edge replaced its predecessor Internet Explorer a few years ago. Along with Edge comes Microsoft's Bing search engine. This is the start page and the default search engine of the Edge browser. You can easily change the search engine. Many users prefer Google and do not want to do without the service in Edge. The change is possible in a few steps. To do so, first call up Google in Edge and then open the browser's settings. After installation, Google may ask you to log in to a Google account. However, if you want to retrieve data from your Google account, for example from the Google Drive cloud or Google Photos, you will need to sign in.

How to switch search engines

  1. Start Edge.
  2. Type "www.google.de" in the search bar.
  3. Wählen Sie im Menü von Edge „Einstellungen“.
  4. Gehen Sie zu „Erweitert“.
  5. Scrollen Sie runter und klicken Sie auf „In Adressleiste suchen“.
  6. Wählen Sie „Suchanbieter ändern“.
  7. Klicken Sie auf „Google“.
  8. Wählen Sie „Als Standard festlegen“.
