Disable Bing: Search - how to do it

Windows 10 brings numerous features to your computer after installation. The integrated search function on the desktop is particularly helpful. This can not only track down local files, but also search the Internet for the entered term. However, you can also disable Bing if you have no use for it.

How to disable Bing search

If you want to find something on your computer, you can use the search function on the desktop in Windows 10. Besides searching in the local files, you can also use the function to find the entered term on the Internet. The Bing search engine is used for this. If you do not want this function, then you can disable the Bing search at any time.

1. First open the Start menu on your PC via the Windows icon at the bottom left.
2. Click here on the gear icon to open the settings of your computer.
3. Now you see the option "Search online and include web results". To disable the search, set the switch to "Off".
4. The online search is now completely disabled and you can only find local files using the search function.

At the moment, there is no way to use a search engine other than Bing for Windows search. Some third-party software partly offer to forward the search queries to another search engine. But even here, care should be taken that it is a trusted software.
