Bing: Set and use SafeSearch - how it works

Thanks to the SafeSearch feature, you can set which search results Bing automatically filters out. This is especially handy if, for example, your children use Bing search and you thus want to avoid certain results. There are different options to choose from.

With SafeSearch you can customize your Bing search.

The three levels of Bing SafeSearch

Bing's SafeSearch consists of three levels. To be able to switch between them, you must first open the settings.
  1. Open Bing in the browser and log in if this is not done automatically.
  2. Click on the menu icon at the top right next to your profile and next to "Rewards".
  3. Select the second entry "SafeSearch". There you will already see the current level.
  4. You will be taken to the "Settings" page, where you will find SafeSearch at the top.

SafeSearch: These three levels are available

  • Strict: With this setting, Bing filters out all content (i.e. images, videos and texts) that are not adult.
  • Medium: With the middle option, only adult images and videos are filtered out. Texts, however, remain visible.
  • Off: Here you turn SafeSearch off completely and get unfiltered search results.
  • Use the blue button "Is inappropriate content still displayed?" to report if the filter is not working as desired.
By default, the medium level is set. If you make a change, scroll down afterwards and click "Save". Thanks to these customization options, you will always be in control of your search results on Bing.
