Television hums: Turn off annoying noises easily

If your TV constantly hums, this is without any question extremely annoying. Nevertheless, most of the time your device is not defective, but has a completely different problem. Learn here how to fix it.

First of all, you need to check whether the annoying noise comes from the speakers or from the device itself. If the hum disappears when you mute the sound, then the problem is in the audio. For example, if external speakers are connected, they are causing the hum and not the TV.

Causes & Solutions: TV hums

First, follow these steps to fix the problem:
  • Make sure you have turned the volume up loud enough on your TV. Most of the time, the volume is only adjusted through the receiver. If the volume on the TV is too low. the receiver amplifies this quiet signal and it comes to an unpleasant noise.
  • Even if one or both devices are turned up to full volume, a humming can occur.
  • Set the brightness of your device to 100% and check whether the hum has become quieter as a result.
  • Sort your cable clutter. Sometimes there can be annoying interactions between the different cables on your device. Make sure that you do not bend or touch unnecessarily. Avoid using unnecessarily long cables.
  • Booking and/or damaged SCART cables can cause noise if you are still using one. Make sure your cable has a sheath current filter or, if possible, switch directly to a connection with HDMI cable.
If none of these tips help, there is a defect. Contact a specialist or send the device to the manufacturer.
