How to find out which Apple Watch you have

Since the launch of the first Apple Watch, Apple has released four more generations of the smartwatch. If you are not sure which Apple Watch you have, there is the possibility to find out via the model number.
  1. To find out the model number, first open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap in this then on "My Watch" and navigate to "General" > "Info".
  3. Look for the "Model" field there and tap it to view the five-digit model number that starts with an "A."

Apple Watch: How to assign the model number

Once you have determined the model number of your Apple Watch, all you have to do is compare it with the list of different model numbers. While the new Apple Watch Series 5 has the model number A2092 or A2093, you can recognize the Apple Watch Series 4 (GPS) by the numbers A1977 and A1978. If you have a 4th generation Apple Watch with GPS + Cellular, it will have A2007 and A2008 as its model number, respectively. The Apple Watch models of the 3rd generation with (GPS) and GPS + Celluar have the model numbers A1858/A1859 and A1889/1891 respectively. If your Apple Watch is an older model, it has either the model number 1757/1758 (Apple Watch Series 2) or A1553/1554 (1st Apple Watch).
