iPhone 12: Change icons - how to do it

Previously, as an iPhone user, you were used to simply depending on the personal taste of the developers when it came to displaying app icons. But this is about to change fundamentally. We explain how to change the icons on your iPhone 12.

Change icons on iPhone 12 - with iOS 14

The iOS 14 software update has brought fundamental changes for the display of app icons. The customization of the app icons can now be done quite easily yourself. Here's how:
  1. Go to the app shortcuts.
  2. Tap the plus icon in the upper right corner and add a new command.
  3. Search for the command "Open App" in the search bar and confirm the selection.
  4. Your selection will then be added as a shortcut.
  5. Now select the app for which you want to change the icon.
  6. Tap on the three dots in the upper right corner afterwards.
  7. Now enter the desired name and put the command on your home screen.
  8. By tapping on the icon next to the text field, you can select a new image for the app icon.
  9. Select an image of your choice and tap on it. The new image will now appear as an app icon on your home screen.
  10. You can move the actual app to one of the rear home screens.

How to change icons on older versions

If you do not yet have the software version iOS 14 or if your iPhone is no longer supported for this version, you can still change the icons on the iPhone.However, for this you need the app Cocoppa. With this you can put shortcuts, so likewise "shortcuts" instead of the actual app on the home screen:
  1. Open the app "Cocoppa" and select an icon.
  2. Confirm this icon and now tap on the app for which you want to set up the icon.
  3. In the next window you can share the selection via the corresponding icon on the home screen.
