Uninstall Avast Free Antivirus: How to do it

Avast Free Antivirus is a popular antivirus program - but if you no longer want to use it, it's best to uninstall it. By doing so, you will not only save disk space, but also make sure that your new virus scanner works correctly. For this purpose, Avast offers a special uninstaller.

How to uninstall Avast Free Antivirus

If you want to use an antivirus program other than Avast Free Antivirus, uninstall the software first. To do this, first make sure that neither Avast nor any other antivirus program is currently active.

1. Go to the Avast support page and click on the "Download Avast uninstaller" button.
2. Then right-click on "avastclear.exe" and select "Run as administrator".
3. Now follow the instructions to uninstall the antivirus program. During the uninstallation process, you need to put Windows into safe mode. Doch hierbei hilft Ihnen das Programm.
4. Alternativ erfolgt eine Deinstallation über das Windows-Startmenü.
5. Rechtsklicken Sie das Windows-Symbol unten links in der Taskleiste und wählen Sie „Apps und Features“ aus.
6. Nun suchen Sie in der Liste nach Avast Free Antivirus und klicken den Eintrag mit der linken Maustaste an.
7. Klicken Sie dann auf „Deinstallieren“ und bejahen Sie die Benutzerkontensteuerung.
8. Der Setup-Assistent von Avast öffnet sich anschließend. In diesem Fenster klicken Sie unten nun erneut auf „Deinstallieren“.
9. Folgen Sie auch hier den Anweisungen, um die Desinstallation zu beenden.
