Reset laptop to factory settings

If your laptop is getting too slow or you want to rid it of all files and content, then it is a good idea to reset it to factory settings. In Windows 10, this is also possible without removing all files from the system. For this, you can use a provided option.

How to reset your laptop

With Windows 10, if you want to reset your laptop to factory settings, it is no longer necessary to reinstall the entire operating system. The software version offers you the possibility to use an already integrated function. Here it is also possible not to remove all files from your system.
  1. Go to the settings of the system via the search function or the key combination "Windows" key + "i".
  2. Now select the option "Update and Security" here and then go to the item "Restore".
  3. Here you will now find the "Let's go" button below the menu item "Reset this PC". Click on it.
  4. Now you have the choice to delete all files and content from your computer or to keep your own files. Click on the appropriate menu item.
  5. Now you see again all the data that will be deleted during the reset. Confirm via "Reset".
  6. The process is started. Until this is completed, it may take some time. Then the laptop will reboot and you can set it up as usual.
