Valheim: Taming animals - how it works

Breeding animals is also one of the many possibilities in Valheim. Our guide explains the mechanisms you can use to catch and tame animals like wild boars.

Always have enough supplies: with your own animals, you will have to go hunting less often.

Preparation is half the battle - this is also true if you want to tame animals in Valheim.

Valheim: How to tame animals

In plain language, this means: before you set out, you should prepare a small gate. However, leave one spot open, this will then serve as an entrance.

1. Then look for a wild boar and let it become aggressive.
2. Run away and lure the animal into the prepared fence.
3. Once the pig is inside, quickly place another piece of wood with which you close the gate.

Now that the animal is trapped, you only need to throw him food. For this purpose, all fruits and vegetables are suitable, so berries, carrots, mushrooms and Co. After a certain amount of food you have tamed the animal. You can see this by a percentage display above the animal. If you now catch and tame another animal using the same method, you will soon be able to enjoy offspring. However, remember that the animals still need food.
