Playing old games on Windows 7: this is how it is possible

Old games that were designed for computers with older operating systems usually no longer start on Windows 7. So that the gaming is still possible, you need the compatibility mode of Windows. How to use the games with this, you will learn here.

How to gamble old games using compatibility mode on Windows 7

Old computer games released before the development of Windows 7 usually do not automatically launch on computers with a newer operating system. So that the games can still be played under Windows 7, it is necessary to start them in Windows compatibility mode.
  1. To do this, navigate to the program directory on your PC and look for the start file of the game there.
  2. Right-click on the start file of the game and select the "Properties" option from the context menu that opens. If you have created a desktop shortcut for the game, the properties can alternatively be accessed by right-clicking on the shortcut.
  3. In the properties, switch to the "Compatibility" tab and place a check mark next to the entry "Run program in compatibility mode for".
  4. From the list of operating systems displayed, then select the one for which the game was developed and save the changes made by clicking "OK".

Windows 7: Play old games in windowed mode

If the game still can not be played despite using the compatibility mode, try to switch it to windowed mode. This is possible either by pressing the key combination of "Alt" + "Enter" or "Windows key" + "D", or via the task manager of your Windows 7 computer by clicking on the game there and selecting the option "Restore".
