Zoom: Record a meeting - how to record

If you want to record a meeting in Zoom, it will only work if you have the appropriate permissions. Learn how to record meetings in Zoom and how to approve recordings as a presenter or administrator here.

How to record a meeting in Zoom

To record a meeting in Zoom, you must be either an administrator or a moderator. Participants with the appropriate clearance from an admin or moderator also have the ability to record video meetings.

1. Start a new meeting or join a session.
2. Click the "Record" button in the bottom right of the menu bar. After you start recording, a new menu bar will appear. The new bar gives you the option to pause or stop recording.
3. Once you stop recording or the meeting, the file is converted to mp4 format and saved locally on your computer. Finally, Zoom automatically opens the location.

In addition to the video file, Zoom also creates an audio file for the meeting.

To allow participants to record the meeting

In order for a normal participant in a meeting to start recording, they must be provided with an appropriate share. Freigaben können von Administratoren und Moderatoren erteilt werden.
