Google Maps: How to use Star Wars mode

The Star Wars saga has come to an end with the last movie and that's why everyone is talking about it again. Google Maps picks up the theme with a fun feature. Read how to enable hyperspeed travel.

No Jedi credentials needed: Google Maps users can travel through the solar system at the speed of light.

The leap of Han Solo's Millennium Falcon into the speed of light is rather unrealistic, but all the more legendary for it. The familiar animation is now also available in Google Maps.

Google Maps: Star Wars feeling when traveling between planets

Google's map service not only includes Earth, but also other planets in the solar system. To do this, you just need to zoom out far enough.
  1. To do this, switch to satellite view.
  2. Also switch to globe view so that the service appears in 3D.
  3. Then zoom out until the "Space" navigation bar appears on the left. Below that, quite a few planets and moons are listed.
  4. Select an entry and enjoy the short hyper-jump.
The feature does not offer any real added value, but it is well done and does not only appeal to science fiction fans.
