Gimp: Undo action - how it works
With the free graphics program Gimp you can create cool graphics, similar to Photoshop. However, in the process, you may click or you may not like something you have performed. For such a case, Gimp offers a specific action that revises the last step.
How does undoing actions work with Gimp?
In Gimp you can edit graphics and completely change entire photos. However, sometimes you want to undo a change because you don't like it.- Click the "Edit" tab at the top of the menu bar.
- Now select "Undo" from the list of options. Usually this is indicated by a small arrow pointing to the right.
- You can now go back as many steps as you like. Once you have gone back one step too many, you can also go forward again by selecting the item "Restore" in the Edit menu, usually marked with an arrow to the left.
- You can also reach the function via a key combination. Ctrl + Z stands for "back" and Ctrl + Y for "forward".
- If you want to completely undo all changes, you can also simply close Gimp and then open the photo again. Click on "Discard changes" when closing so that they are not saved.
