What is Zwift? We explain the hip fitness service

Fitness is trending, so are bikes - but unfortunately the weather often doesn't allow for an after-work workout outdoors. This is where Zwift comes in and provides a remedy. We explain how the service works.

Virtual world: Zwift brings exciting cycling landscapes to your home.

Virtual training is nothing new, but it is implemented in a special way with Zwift. This brings benefits in more ways than one.

What is Zwift and what are the benefits?

Zwift is a virtual platform complementary to the cycling session on the roller trainer:
  • With Zwift, a realistic training environment is mapped on a screen of your choice. This is set on the fictional island of Watopia.
  • Matching this environment also runs the training with different passages such as climbs and sprints.
  • If you have a smart roller trainer, Zwift can even automatically adjust the resistance to match the riding environment.
  • With Zwift you have access to an increasing number of tracks and areas, so you can always vary.
  • If desired, you can even train virtually with other Zwift users together; on the screen you then move in the group. On this basis, races and other events also take place.
  • Per level system, in which you advance only with real sweat, you unlock new areas and routes.
  • Through this implementation, the training should be more realistic and thus more entertaining, exciting and effective.
Because it is clear that home training at home can quickly become boring. With Zwift, there is valuable visual input, which significantly increases the fun factor and is also more goal-oriented. Incidentally, in addition to cyclists, Zwift also appeals to runners; in total, Zwift has around two million paying users (€14.99 per month), making it the market leader in this segment.
